Mina Arena | Free to Play Battle Game on Mina Mina Arena is an exciting, free-to-play turn-based strategy game built on the Mina blockchain. The proposal encompasses several modules that contribute to the overall gameplay experience. One of the key elements is the core gameplay module, which incorporates open-source ZK Programs written in SnarkyJS. These programs serve as the foundation for the game’s mechanics and rules, ensuring transparency and verifiability. To enhance accessibility and enjoyment for players, the proposal also includes a first-party client for the game circuits. This client will be developed as a web application, offering players the option to utilize server-side proofs. This approach aims to make the game accessible to a wide range of players, regardless of their technical expertise. The final module of the proposal involves implementing a smart contract on the Mina blockchain to store a leaderboard. This leaderboard will enable players to showcase their victories and prove their achievements to the global gaming community. The team behind Mina Arena is committed to delivering a comprehensive package. This includes providing well-documented SnarkyJS artifacts for the core game, developing a user-friendly web application that encompasses both frontend and backend code, offering cloud hosting for the game server with proof generation capabilities, and implementing a sequencer to update the leaderboard smart contract. What makes this game particularly exciting is its integration with blockchain technology. Blockchain gaming offers the unique advantage of item ownership and the ability to continue playing even if the game’s centralized servers cease to exist. However, traditional blockchain games often come with the inconvenience of high transaction fees that players need to pay just to participate. Mina solves this challenge by enabling off-chain proving that is compatible with the blockchain for consensus. The majority of the game is played off-chain, where two or more players collaboratively create a game proof. These game proofs can be merged with numerous others before being batched and updated on-chain. This innovation brings significant benefits to players. For instance, they can have non-fungible tokens (NFTs) representing in-game units that can be carried from one battle to another or evolve over time based on acquired attributes. Importantly, the game itself can cover its own transaction fees due to the low cost of operations on the Mina blockchain. This eliminates the need for players to purchase Mina tokens solely for playing the game. In fact, players may not even require a Mina account unless they value self-custody for their player identity. In summary, the development team is pushing the boundaries of usability in blockchain gaming, aiming to create an immersive and accessible experience for all.
