POPKORN addresses the challenges that average users encounter when handling private keys and digital signatures, aiming to prevent potential loss of funds due to common mistakes. The proposed solution is a wallet built on Mina, leveraging Protokit to simplify digital signature management and eliminate the complexities of seed phrase handling. This approach is intended to improve user experience by reducing errors and facilitating seamless integration with decentralized applications (dApps) without requiring significant changes to existing infrastructure and processes. During the hackathon project, POPKORN encountered technical challenges that provided valuable learning experiences. Initially, there were difficulties with proof generation, which prompted the team to explore various solutions and strategies. They managed to overcome these challenges independently, focusing on completing the core functionality of their dApp. Additionally, transitioning dependencies to a different instance of Protokit posed issues with imports and dependencies. To work around this, the team implemented temporary solutions, demonstrating their adaptability and commitment to delivering a functional prototype within the hackathon timeframe. Although POPKORN is a one-off project developed for a hackathon, its open-source code could provide useful insights and tools for future projects aiming to simplify digital asset management on platforms like Mina. This contribution reflects the team’s efforts to innovate and address real-world challenges in the cryptocurrency space. This project was awarded a prize by the Mina Foundation at zkHack - Krakow View the code on GitHub View Presentation
